About
Kula Chakula means “eat food” in Swahili — a simple phrase that carries a lot of heart. For us, it’s an invitation: to slow down, to gather, and to be nourished by food that feels like home.
We started Kula Chakula because we were raised between two cultures — Kenyan and American — and food was always our bridge. At home, we ate stews that simmered all day, greens cooked just right, and spice blends passed down through generations. But outside, we rarely saw our food — or our stories — on the menu.
Kula Chakula is our way of bringing Kenyan comfort food to the table — boldly, joyfully, and without apology. Whether you’re new to it or grew up with it, our meals are made with care: not for performance, but for real people with real lives — busy, tired, caring for others, or simply craving something familiar.
We believe food should be generous. That it should feel like home. And that when we eat together, we create something bigger than a meal.
Come hungry. Leave full — of food, culture, and connection.
